Established in 2015, the KIN Gallery we know today was once a tiny pop up space tucked into a corner of Braddon’s temporary Hamlet. At the time it stocked just 28 artists; almost a decade on we now represent more than 60 jewellery designers and makers from all around Australia. As the KIN family grew so too did the gallery, and in 2017 we moved across the street to shop No.06 on the ground floor of 27 Lonsdale St, Braddon. From very humble beginnings (back in the old days we had no running water, and a very lively possum family in the rafters!), KIN has evolved into a bustling gallery and vibrant workshop space.
Jewellery is at the heart of everything we do, but at KIN we have a lot more to offer than a conventional jewellery shop!
In addition to browsing our ever-changing shelves, KIN visitors may find themselves meeting artists in residence, watching or participating in one of our many jewellery-making workshops or talking to our specialist staff about commissioning a custom-made piece. Every member of the KIN team is a practicing jeweller, and we are proud to be able to lend our expertise to the Canberra community at some of the most important moments of their lives: celebrating a new marriage or birth, commemorating an anniversary, or making the first tentative hammer marks on a new jewellery career of their own.
Led by director, owner and fearless leader Ingrid Lockley-Penc (also a jeweller, of course!) the KIN team has high hopes for the years to come. Whether it’s expanding our selection of workshops, offering more artist’s residencies or bringing in fresh new talent we’re excited to find out what beautiful things the jewellery world has to offer this year.
Whether you’re gift-hunting, treating yourself or searching for the perfect engagement ring, we’ll help you to find a piece you can treasure for years to come. Check out our website, follow our socials for updates or come into the store to say hi!
See you soon,
The KIN Team
