Ann Welton has brought us a beautiful pair of her Crinkle Cut Hoops. These are a cyan pair, they feature a sterling silver post and clasp to keep them secure.
The Crinkle Cut design is a corrugated surface which means the colour can really pop in the light, and upon closer inspection we can see that the colour also has a bold shimmer in it that accentuates the bright cyan.
Measurements: 7mm wide and 0.8mm thick, with the corrugation in mind they are 2mm thick. The internal diameter is 43.5mm.
Materials: Copper, automotive paint, sterling silver.
Ann Welton discovered gold and silver smithing while studying at NMIT. She went on to complete Bachelor of Fine Art (Gold and Silver Smithing) (Honours) at RMIT, which allowed her to extend her exploration of vessel and jewellery making.
“My works are strongly influenced by growing up in rural communities, with landscapes that reflected a complex interplay of the natural and undisturbed and imposed farming practises. The beauty of these landscapes was often subtle, even unexpected. Colours were muted, variations subtle, but the textures associated with them were strong and distinctive. Consequently, texture has become a driving force in my making because of its power to connect one to place and people.” ~Ann Welton
