Handcrafted in sterling silver, this piece is part of a series created by Australian Master artist-jeweller Dorothy Erickson, paying homage to women needleworkers. This bracelet comprises 13mm x 1mm lengths of sterling silver connected by circular jumprings. Arranged into six, parrallel, 19.5cm lengths, four of these strands are each fitted with five raw Aquamarine beads. The interlocking barrel clasp is a work in itself.
The pairing of light blue Aquamarines with the sterling silver is strongly reminiscent of crochet.
Materials: Sterling silver, Aquamarine
Length of bracelet: 20cm
Total width laying flat: 80mm
Australian Master artist-jeweller and author, Dorothy Erickson hails from Western Australia and has been exhibiting her jewellery internationally since 1979.
Erickson draws inspiration for her many collections on different aspects of geometry, the wild and domesticated landscapes of Western Australia and in later collections the paintings of Gustav Klimt. Some of her later collections are also based off the wildflower paintings of her mother Rica Erickson. You can see these influences come through in her use of form, texture, colour and material.
