Gleaming with all the dark iridescence of an oil slick but made from 100% natural materials, these chandelier earrings are light as a feather and rustle softly as you move. Made from the elytra (or wing covers) of jewel beetles, they feature a trio of wing covers hung vertically from a single horizontal elytron, joined with sterling silver rings and hung from a hand-made sterling silver ear hook.
Between the two middle wings hanging vertically down is a baroque, elongated fresh water pearl which contrasts beautifully with the green and bronze tones of the wings.
Elytra are lovely, ethical way to add colour to your jewellery collection. Jewel beetles live a brief (but brilliant!) life, after which the wings are collected and go on to be used in jewellery, textiles and other decorative objects.
Sterling silver, jewel beetle wing cases, fresh water baroque pearls.
