Cassandra Prinzi has created a series of deeply personal charms reflecting both her busy schedule, while also incorporating musical motifs that refer to timing and rest. This charm features the numerals 12 and 8, with one numeral placed above the second, and connected at the top to a 5mm bale - perfect for suspending from a necklace or bracelet.
Artist statement: I wanted to create charms that would serve as a personal symbol to me. Reflecting on this past year, juggling multiple projects and navigating a busy schedule, I realised the importance of self-care. I had become time poor in order to value my time and acknowledge that rest is necessary in order to do my best. Drawing on my background in music, I have taken time signatures and symbols for time and rest, used in music, to create charms that serve as a reminder to make time for rest.
Materials: copper, powdercoated black
Length of drop from bale: 21mm
Cassandra Prinzi’s brilliantly coloured brooches draw eyes in any room; her powdercoat and enamel earrings offer a subtler colour palette, while retaining the ‘coral formation’ motif that makes her work so distinctive. Informed by the natural and urban landscapes, Prinzi combines the organic formations of coral with the energy and liveliness of graffiti.
