Artist Melinda Young has created this charm, titled 'Gateway', in sterling silver, and blackened (oxidised) the surface. There is a 5mm bale attached to centre at the top of the gate, making it easy to fit to a necklace.

Contemporary jeweller Melinda Young lives and works on Dharawal Country, nestled
between ocean and escarpment. She is fascinated by the potential for unexpected
narrative, finding inspiration in architecture, the landscape and everyday life, taking
delight in the colours and textures, she encounters. This is reflected in her work,
which is often made from brightly coloured reclaimed plastics or natural materials
gathered near her home, used in combination with metal and stones. Exploring her
coastal environment is a constant creative stimulus for a maker who is attracted to
the tiny details – the patina and beauty of the everyday.
