This wonderful brooch has been made in oxidised sterling silver with a stainless steel pin. The form is made from 9 hollow hexagons that side beside each other, forming one connected piece. The hexagons are varied in height, giving a sense of depth to the piece, and viewed from the side, it is reminscent of the unique hexagonal columns found in nature. The brooch is textured at the sides, with rough edges that imitate organic forms.

Simon Williams is a jewellery and object designer/maker based in Adelaide. He is a multimedia practitioner, using materials as diverse as recycled spectacles, cast resin, latex, precious metals and stones. His design practice is equally broad, resulting in wallets, bags, clothing and rug design (via the Design Institute of Australia) as well as jewellery. Colour and texture are at the heart of his practice, alongside a desire to create objects that will suit and appeal to a wide audience. He has been exhibiting his work regularly through Adelaide galleries and nationally since graduating from the South Australian School of Art in 2005
