Simon Williams - Terrain: Lava Charm, Sterling Silver, 18ct Yellow Gold

This charm from Simon Williams is a uniquely textured small rectangular shape, made in blackened sterling silver and 18ct yellow gold. The piece has smooth edges, while the front is has an undulating rock-like texture. Scattered across the charm are three small gold pieces, contrasting against the black. The corners and edges of the piece have been rounded, and attached to the top is jump ring with a 5mm internal diameter - ready to go on a piece of jewellery of your choice.

Simon Williams is a jewellery and object designer/maker based in Adelaide. He is a multimedia practitioner, using materials as diverse as recycled spectacles, cast resin, latex, precious metals and stones. His design practice is equally broad, resulting in wallets, bags, clothing and rug design (via the Design Institute of Australia) as well as jewellery. Colour and texture are at the heart of his practice, alongside a desire to create objects that will suit and appeal to a wide audience.

He has been exhibiting his work regularly through Adelaide galleries and nationally since graduating from the South Australian School of Art in 2005.
